I have excellent memories of standing on a mountain top with the College & Career group, and hearing Dave Chantler say, “Now this is God’s country.” I couldn’t have agreed more. However, I discovered that not everyone was as eager to hike up a mountain as I was. I had no idea why they didn’t share the same enthusiasm for experiencing God, through creation, by viewing it from a mountain top!
My answer came in a Bible study a few years ago. It hadn’t occurred to me that different people feel Gods power, and love, and glory in different ways. And it just happens that I feel it most when standing on the mountain. The powerful elements mixed, with the still beauty of the landscape is, for me, the time I feel closest with God. I love every minute I’m there, and every memory I bring back. This is exciting! Wherever, or whatever, or however you feel God, take every chance you can get to enjoy it.
“Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11 NIV
