Change from the Inside Out
The Christian life is one of sacrifice, however it is not meant to be lived out of simple obligation or duty. Several times in the gospels we read of the compassion of Jesus causing him to serve and give. Even on the cross we see this attitude; forgiving the very people who put him there.
Lent is an opportunity to wrestle our attention off ourselves and first towards Christ and then on those around us. Seeing people the way that Jesus sees them will impact how we treat them and how we pray for them.
Jesus never let a person’s religion, wealth, health or nationality prevent him from sharing God’s love with them.
Scripture:
‘Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same of Christ Jesus.’ – Philippians 2:4-5, Matthew 5:43-44, 9:35-38, 20:29-34, John 13:1-5
Action Plan:
Write the names of some people that need to experience the love of Jesus on your prayer card and commit to praying for the
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, help me see people the way you do and to love them through my words and actions so they might see you through me. Amen
