Less Is More: Preparing for Easter
A study in the Life of John the Baptist
How are you preparing for Easter?
We’re not talking about getting a new outfit or buying chocolate eggs to hide. The Lenten season is an opportunity to journey with Jesus towards the cross through an intense time of self-examination and reflection. We want to strip away the layers of religious niceties, take off the masks that hide our true self, look past the thin accomplishments we hide behind and take down our trophies that impress others. What are we left with? Nothing but Jesus…
…and that is when we are ready for the agony of Good Friday and the ecstasy of Resurrection Sunday!
This Lenten season we will be reflecting on John the Baptist’s declaration that ‘he (Jesus) must increase and I must decrease’ and the idea of less is more.
Less of me, more of Him.
That is our prayer this Easter.
