New Canadian Ministry

At Harbour Fellowship Church, we are proud to be recognized as a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) under Canada’s Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) Program. As a SAH, we hold a formal agreement with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), allowing us to facilitate the resettlement of refugees in need of protection by partnering with dedicated co-sponsors.

Our commitment to assisting refugees is deeply rooted in our faith and our desire to follow Christ’s example of love, compassion, and service. As Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40, NIV). Our biblical vision is to serve those in need, particularly Christian refugees, offering them the opportunity to resettle in Canada and live out their faith in freedom. We pray that through this support, they will not only rebuild their lives but also have a lasting impact on others in Canada, shining the light of Christ in their new communities.

What is a SAH?

A Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) is an organization that has been authorized by the Canadian government to sponsor refugees. SAHs, such as Harbour Fellowship Church, are responsible for providing settlement support and ensuring that the refugees we sponsor are well-integrated into Canadian society. We oversee sponsorships, work with co-sponsors and community members, and ensure that each refugee receives the resources and assistance they need to rebuild their lives in Canada.

OUR ROLE AS A SAH

As a SAH, Harbour Fellowship plays a key role in coordinating and supporting the refugee sponsorship process. Our responsibilities include:
  • Partnering with Co-Sponsors: We work closely with individuals, families, and community groups who wish to participate in refugee sponsorship by acting as co-sponsors. Together, we provide essential financial, emotional, and logistical support to refugees.
  • Managing Allocations: Each year, we are given a limited number of refugee sponsorship spots, which we allocate to co-sponsors based on need and capacity.
  • Supporting Settlement: Our team helps guide both co-sponsors and sponsored refugees through the settlement process, ensuring that newcomers receive housing, employment assistance, healthcare, education, and community integration.
  • Providing Oversight and Accountability: As a SAH, we ensure that co-sponsors meet the requirements set by the Canadian government, including financial commitments and settlement plans, and that sponsored refugees are supported throughout the duration of the sponsorship.

how to pray

Pray for the many people around the world who face suffering and adversity who are in need.

Pray that Harbour would help many people to find safety and a chance for a better life, and demonstrate the tangible love of Jesus in this way.

Pray that many new Canadians would ultimately come to know and embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pray that Harbour would become a home for many new Canadians.

PLEASE NOTE

Please note that our allocations for 2024 are currently full, and we are unable to accept any new co-sponsorship applications at this time. We understand the importance of this work and are grateful for the continued interest and support from those looking to sponsor refugees. To ensure you stay informed, we encourage you to check back on or after February 1st, 2025, when we will provide updated information on the 2025 allocation process. At that time, we will be able to share details on how to apply, the availability of sponsorship spots, and any additional requirements for the upcoming year.
