Sometimes people come into our lives for a short period of time, yet impact our lives forever. Such was the case when our small group had the privilege of having Myrna Voth join our group. However, Myrna passed away April 5th of this year, a shock to us as she was only 55 years of age.
Myrna’s mother requested that our group help clean her apartment. Myrna impacted each of our lives in our group, but also, through her belongings she impacted lives in Africa, our church and our food bank. Not only did she impact each one of us hugely who had the privilege to know her, the blessings went beyond our borders. In observing Myrna’s strong faith throughout her health challenges and struggles we realized even more that it is not about our belongings here and now, it is about how God causes good to come out of every situation to build up our treasures in our eternal homes in heaven. If she only knew how much her belongings made a difference in other people’s lives! We know she is at home with Jesus and free from pain. It was just a pleasure to have known Myrna. What a blessing she was to all of us.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6: 19-21 NIV
